Kendal Thomson

Kendal joined BRYO in 2010 as part of our China Tour.  Since completing her Conductor-In-Training programme she has put together BRYO’s first Jazz Ensemble and is busy booking gigs for this vibrant and talented group.

Kendal graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Music from the Queensland Conservatorium. As part of her studies she undertook conducting with Peter Morris, Emily Cox and Peter Francis. Kendal’s performance career has seen her play with numerous ensembles including Queensland Youth Orchestra, Redland Sinfonia and Queensland Wind Orchestra. She also regularly sings with Brisbane Chorale and has been a member of Imogen Children’s Chorale and Birralee Resonance. She has had many memorable performance opportunities including performing in the 2000 Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games and participating in National Music Camp in Adelaide in 2009. She is a recipient of a Young Australia Day award for her contributions to the arts. Kendal has toured extensively through North America and Canada, Singapore, China and Europe where she undertook classes at the Conservatoire de Paris. Kendal has worked with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra as Marketing and Media Relations officer and is currently the Marketing Manager for the Queensland Music Festival.
