Erin Thomson

Erin Thomson (nee Dorney) has been a continued member of the Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra since joining in 1994 and is the Associate Conductor of the BRYO Symphony Orchestra. She studied French Horn and conducting at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and works a number of different jobs as a Multi Instrumental Music Instructor for Education Queensland, part of the teaching team for the Logan Youth Music Exchange (LYME), as an Education Liaison for Rural Aid, and teaches private students in her home studio.

Her performance career has taken her to China, Japan, New Zealand, America and throughout Australia. The highlight of her conducting career has been performing Danzon no. 2 with BRYO at Carnegie Hall in April last year. Erin is constantly seeking professional training to continue her passion for conducting.

In addition to her work as a musician, Erin is married to BRYO alumni member, Adam Thomson. Erin has a brother, 3 brother-in-laws and 3 sister-in-laws who are also all BRYO alumni members. Erin and Adam have 2 beautiful daughters, Hannah Rose (Cello) and Charlotte Grace (Violin) who are both current members of BRYO
