BRYO 2026 Symphony Orchestra auditions are now closed. Please scroll down to audition for the Scherzo Strings Ensemble.
Symphony Orchestra late auditions may be considered if there is a vacancy. Please note that late auditions inccure an additional $15 fee and successful applicants will be placed at the back of the section.
PROCESS FOR SYMPHONY AUDITIONS:
Auditions are done via video for Symphony Orchestra and BRYJE.
You will need to prepare the following:
- 2 pieces/excerpts of contrasting music of your choice that demonstrates your level
- A scale of your choice that is appropriate for your level
- An accompanist or backing track may be used but is not compulsory
Videos: Please record your video audition on a phone or tablet and submit your virtual audition to our audition panel via YouTube link at the end of the application form. Please make sure you have this link ready before completing the online form.
PROCESS FOR SCHERZO AUDITIONS:
Auditions for Scherzo Strings are in-person live auditions. These can be booked by emailing Rachelle Lee at rachelle@bryo.org.au to find a suitable time. Players must prepare 1 own choice piece of music (or a section of a piece) and the audition excerpts (click below). Scherzo Strings is for students performing approximately AMEB Grade 1-5.
After Your Audition
Audition results will be available within a month after the close date (1st November 2026).
Rehearsals will begin with the school year in 2026 and will be held at Balmoral State High School on Monday nights. More information will be provided via email after the audition results are received.
Vivace (Advanced Strings Group) is also optional for Symphony strings players as the year starts.
BRYJE and Vivace Rehearsals occur after Symphony Orchestra Rehearsals on Monday nights.
